Morgans 30th Letter in 2013

Dear Family,
Wow I cant believe Ethan is going to be entering the MTC in 2 days!! Crazyness!! Oh how time flies. There is a girl in my ward who enters the MTC on July 31 also, her name is Sister Manaia Afalava. Haha its kind of a mouthful to say, but look out for her she is really cool. Ethan the MTC is a hard place, trying to adjust to missionary life, plus you having to learn a language. But just depend on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for the Strength that you need. Here's on of my favorite quotes "Pray as if everything depended on God, Work as if everything depended on You." You'll do great Ethan, try to have fun, and follow my personal motto to "make the best out of every situation you find yourself in."

So I want to start off by sharing something that happen on Sunday at Church. Its not a crazy spiritual experience or anything, but its still pretty sweet! So during Elders Quorum, we were having a discussion on Families and raising a family and stuff. And a guy mentioned he was from Orem. So after class got over I went and asked him where in Orem he was from, and told him I grew up in Orem. He said he lived by Orem Junior High, then about a year ago he moved to Hawaii. And so we were talking for a little while, then I mentioned that I moved up to Cedar Hills. And he said he had a son and daughter that used to live in Cedar Hills, but moved away about 2 years ago. I asked him their names and guess who his kids are!!?? Skyler Johansen, and McKenna Johansen!! They Skyler lived in our Ward for a long time, and we became pretty good friends. Then I Told Skylers Dad that I remember seeing him come to our Cedar Hills ward a few times to support Skyler. I talked to him for a while about Utah, and Skyler. He is going to go on a mission soon. So yeah theres my story, Skyler's Dad is in My ward!

So the Kealoha Kids, Lee and Tani, did not get baptized this week. They are going to get baptized next Friday though. That's a day that they wanted so that all of their family can make it to the baptism. Which works perfectly fine for us. Sheila Geiger, our other investigator didn't come to church again, so I think we might have to push the baptism back. We are going to talk to her this week about that. We had a lesson with her this week. Bishop Alo came to the lesson with us, they were class mates at Kuhuku High School, so they had fun reminiscing about old times. Oh by the Way Kuhuku High School, which is the Highschool here in Laie, and Hauula, and Kuhuku, is going to play East High School in Salt Lake City Utah. They play each other at the end of August. But anyways, our lesson was on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And their was a strong spirit at the lesson, Sheila really opened up and shared her feelings and concerns, and her testimony especially. Her family has been encouraging her to be baptized, and so she really wants to be baptized, she just has anxiety about going to church.

Thursday we got another Mini Missionary, I guess we did so good with the last one, they wanted to give us another one haha Just Kidding. But his name is Shang Hai Lin, well that is just our Nick Name for him. His name is Elder Makana Lin, from Hauula 4th Ward, and He is Chinese. And heres the crazy part, he is only 16 years old, and is still in High School. I didnt even know you could serve a mini mission when your that young. But he did great, he's going to be an awesome missionary! We were able to visit a lot of people while with Elder Lin, but theres 1 person we saw that I want to talk about.

We saw Nick, who is our Tongan Investigator. First thing we did was watch the Restoration video with him. After the Video, Elder Anderson shared his Testimony of the Restoration and the Church. Then I Asked him how he felt in his heart, or his feelings during the Video and Elder Andersons Testimony. Because their was such a strong peaceful spirit there, since we had the Lesson at the Visitor Center, and it is on Temple Grounds. Plus watching the Movie, and the Testimonies, their was such a wonderful feeling in the room. He shared an experience with us he had that day with his daughter. Then told us he is still praying everyday for an answer if the Mormon Church is true. We all shared our Testimonies about Prayer, and the Book of Mormon, and Joseph Smith, and then closed with a prayer. It was just a great lesson with him, I always love seeing this guy. He is so prepared and ready for Baptism. He was actually joking around about Baptism after the lesson, so I guess that's a good sign.

Oh yeah and 1 more thing, a random tourist game to our ward, shes from Highland Utah, She took a picture of me, and said she was gonna call M但尖螺郁即痺量鄰教昨勞標郁職桿尖那枰尖螃標較螃昧宗輝刺是峋魯兆崴亂剪是料榜是vv bvhsajkfhksjfhsk  haha that was weird, the computer just randomly started writing in Japanese or Something. But the Lady said she was going to call Mom and say hi to her, and send the picture to her. Im not sure if she ever did or not.

But I love you all, thanks for everything, thanks for all the support! have an awesome week!

Morgan's 29th Letter in 2013 - Photos

This has been a pretty fun week. Wednesday I went on exchanges with Elder Clawson all day. He is from Murray, Utah, and has been out for like a month now. A member in our ward, named Shyanne, she just sent in her mission papers. And she asked if she could come teach some lessons with us, so she can get some practice being a missionary. So she came out with us on Wednesday to a couple of our lessons. Our first lesson was with the Lee and Tina Kealoha, they are 8 and 9 years old. The parents are starting to come back to church, so we have been teaching the whole family all the missionary lessons. They are gonna be baptized next weekend if all goes well. The lesson was great, we taught the Plan of Salvation, and drew out a picture/diagram to help them understand it better. The spirit was their strong helping us to teach simply, and powerfully. I love teaching kids, they are always my favorite lessons, and the spirit is always their very strongly.

We then headed to the Church, and the Young Womens President asked Me and Elder Clawson to teach the Young Womens class. So we shared the Restoration with them that lasted maybe like 20-30 minutes. And then with Shyanne we taught our Investigator Rainbow a lesson on Faith. Were just trying to continue teaching her even though Baptism is a touchy topic for Her, since she wants to but her parents are holding her back. I know that as she continues to learn and grow, and strengthen her testimony, that her desire to be baptized will grow, and things will work out so she can be baptized.

So Transfers is this Wednesday. I am going to be staying with Elder Cutler for another transfer, which I am really excited about! Because I wanted to stay in my area and zone longer. I love it up here, im having tons and tons of fun, and the missionary work is going very well too. Today for P-Day we are having a Water Party!! Were going to have a massive water balloon fight, we have 3000 water balloons to fill up. And a Squirt gun fight, and then a gigantic  slip & slide that's probably 25 feet long or so. I'm really excited for Today, ill try to take some pictures.

I love you all, have a great week BYE!
