Hello Elder D & Family!
What a week this has been! I may have to make this brief,
but I'll get the main details. Starting
the letter a bit late so I will see how far I get.
This week at work I walked to the front lobby doors and I
see Derek Whetten just entering the building and was delighted to say hello!
Then I hear a voice from the inside of the lobby saying,"Hello Sara!"
I look up to the second level and there is Joseph Cancilla! He came down the
staircase and gave me a big hug? We spoke for a couple minutes and made mention
of David. He's working on making the
David Cancilla Foundation more secure with help from Mark Eddy our former
Bishop and attorney.
Morgan has been to the UVU campus several times this week
to prepare for school and class registration.
With this late start at getting in the college, his class choices are
limited. It was delightful to see him
walk into my work one day and he stayed for a pizza lunch my work was having
for an employees birthday.
Annalisa and Apollo arrived on Friday evening and we
shared time together. They drove down
the Dodge Dakota truck they own and on the way down found it was having
issues. An ignition part was replaced
and it's working better now. We hope for
a safe trip to LA for them and their way up the CA coast to Oregon. They will
be there 3 months.
Saturday some plans were rearranged to suit the group and
after Apollo got a replacement part for the truck, we all headed to Tooele to
visit Nick and Mike. Dan & Christian
drive down this enclosed trailer that had a part of Annie's household items to
store them at my house. They were at
Nicks and with Mike we went to lunch at the Bonneville Brewery for a nice meal. Adrienne works there and she helped our table
of people. Thanks Adrienne! The item of
mention there was the fried macaroni and cheese balls! Delish! Morgan sold his yellow 4wheeler and found a
nice replacement on KSL from someone in Blackfoot so Dan went to look at it and
bought it, then brought it to Utah with Annie's things. Morgan was excited to
ride it at Nicks house. Oh what fun
these machines have brought to our family!
Aunt Kristi happen to be in town for her sisters wedding
in SLC Temple and I was invited to attend.
The reception was at the Joseph Smith Memorial at the Palmyra room on
the top floor! I asked if Morgan could attend with me and he so kindly joined
me. We left Tooele at 3:45pm to be at
the Temple in time in downtown SLC. We
arrived to see some former ward members, Steve and Marla Allen from Cedar
Hills! Since it had been 6 years since we were in their ward it was so fun to
catch up on news. They happen to be
there for the same wedding party! The
ceremony for Kristi's sister Sheri was beautiful and I was glad for Morgan to
hear the Sealing Ordinances. The reception was terrific and while the evening
progressed I send text and photos to Oma, Bryan and Tamie to see what was
happening as it happened! Heidi and Michael were there too and 3 of Kristi's
sisters. Morgan happened to see a daughter
of the Bishop he served with in a Kona ward!
She was attending a friends wedding and is going to BYU for the year.!
It was pretty exciting for Morgan to recognize her!
Sunday began with an early wake up to be at the Stake
Center by 7:30am for Morgan to report to the High Council and Stake
Presidency. Parents were invited and It
was beautiful to hear the reports and testimonies of the group of 5 returning
missionaries that week. Right after the
report, the RM's were asked to talk with the Missionary Prep Class. Again they shared testimony to the youth
preparing to leave. It was amazing.
With a few more preparations at home for the lunch we
would have after Morgans talk, we felt ready.
Annalisa wasn't feeling well so Dan and Morgan gave her a Priesthood
blessing before Church. It was great to
see the priesthood bless her in her health and upcoming travel.
Morgans talk went very well. He gave some examples of
faith from his mission and tied it to the subject he was given. He expressed his love of his mission service
and especially his love of the Hawaiian people and culture of Aloha. I video taped it for Oma, Elder Ethan and
Robin...and of course as a Momma keepsake!
I'll figure out a way to get it to you.
Many of his Orem friends came but none of the YSA people so that was
odd. Lineah Cancilla Yapeia joined us
and it was nice to meet her baby who is 3 months old. Kristi was also able to be there, as well as the
Worthens. But, he had there the people he cares about most so all went well.
After the luncheon, we got Annie's thins into my garage and Apollo and the boys
packed it in so well it didn't seem to add to the volume.
It was a great afternoon of visiting and 'talk story' as
is the saying in Hawaii.
Families are forever and I am so glad I have my own to
cherish! Have a terrific week everyone
and especially Elder Ethan in Argentina! You have been so close to my heart all
week long and know I am so proud of you.
I pray for the people there to open their heart and mind to you. Issei
panties to hear the Gospel!
