Where do I begin? I’ll start with going to Nick and Michelle’s
wedding. I drove to Utah with Tamie and Maggie Wednesday the 14th.
Everett and Tiffany drove from Las Vegas and stayed at the same motel we stayed in. The next day was the wedding in Logan, Utah in a lovely little park. I’d never been in that part of Utah and the whole valley is just beautiful, green, mountains, pasture, etc. The park was set apart from other things, green, a stream or two with walking bridges, a pavilion, a grassy area surrounded by trees which made it feel private. All Sara’s children looked wonderful. Both Mike and Ethan have lost weight and buffed up. Annie has a new boy friend who makes her happy. David and Ashlee were their lovable selves giving me hugs.
Morgan is nearly as tall as Nick. Gavin came with Bridgett and Mike.
Michelle’s family had decorated with purple and lime green lightly and in harmony with the surroundings. Michelle’s dress was lovely, white, long, a purple sash, and simple but with tucks around the skirt that made it look like there were large scallops. It was so just right and tasteful. Nick wore a black tux with tails, lime green cumber-bun, and tie. The rental place had to get a tux made for his size because he is so tall, so it was a perfect fit. Wow! He looked so very handsome and manly. I felt so pleased with it all! Michelle had at least one sister and Annie and two others I didn’t meet. David was a groom’s man with three other fellows I didn’t know. Their Bishop said the right words before the ceremony and he pronounced them man and wife and they kissed. Then unexpected to all but the Bishop, Nick got down on one knee and looking up at Michelle poured out his heart. Oh my goodness!
I don’t know if there was a dry eye. It was the most romantic thing to do! Michelle was totally speechless and then there was an outburst from all. Nick had obviously given a lot of thought and preparation into the heartfelt words he said. Afterward they greeted those who came and did the traditional cake and grape juice toasts. Her family had a light supper and cake. When they left, they mounted Nick’s sparkling motorcycle with Michelle’s dress flowing behind them. Oh, drama! Such fun!
After we left the park we, Tamie, Maggie, Ev, Tiffany and I, found the Logan Temple and took photos all around it as the sun was going down. The Logan and Manti temples were the first built in Utah. It really reminded us of a castle. I really enjoyed seeing it, if only from the outside.
Mike and Bridgett had to work the next day, but they let Gavin come home with Sara, Morgan and Ethan. Gavin then got to do things with us Friday and Saturday. He’ll be 3 Aug. 1st and has a pretty good vocabulary. He was such a happy boy and never once threw a fit about anything. He started calling me Oma and let me hold his hands and later even a hug. I am a happy great-grandma! Morgan and Ethan are so very good with him and he really loves them.
Friday we went to Sara’s house as Everett, Tiffany, Tamie and Maggie had never been inside. From there we went to Thanksgiving Pointe. I have no idea why it is called that, but it used to be called point of the mountain before anything was built there. There is a very good dinosaur museum which Everett particularly likes. They also had hands on things for kids to do. Maggie, Morgan and Ethan did things with Gavin and had as much fun as he did. Outside there was a contraption that had several handles and when pulled or cranked water would come
out here and there. Another Gavin hit! It was 103 degrees that day.
After lunch, Ev and Tiff went off to celebrate their 4th anniversary.
(They request that the rest of the family refrain from getting married
on their anniversary: last year Hilary, this year Nick.) (<: We
walked around more of the Pointe in the gardens, etc. Of course, cameras were busy the whole time we were in Utah. Morgan drove Ethan and Gavin home while Tamie, Sara, Maggie and I went shopping. It was exhausting but I didn’t want to miss anything. (<: I wanted to be with my girls. At a favorite store Maggie tried on so many clothes that Sara and I just enjoyed the fashion show sitting in chairs.
Naturally there were many things that were beautiful on Maggie and so she and Tamie had to decide and make difficult choices. One item they did buy was a teal formal for only $20 on sale. You couldn’t buy the fabric for that. (I think Maggie should go out for Miss Carson City
again.) Other items were tops and jeans. We ate a late supper at a sports grill. At a Disney store, I found a shirt and a couple other things from the "Cars" movie for Gavin. Sara also bought some accessories to match. We gave them to Gavin Saturday for his Birthday.
He was excited and dressed up and let us take his picture. I spent the night at Sara’s Friday.
Saturday Sara, Gavin and I took Gretchen dog for a walk in Sara’s neighborhood and we took in some great views. Annie had to go to work, so I said good-bye before the walk. Sara did some "show and tell" for me and then the boys went with us to meet, the others and we took the light rail into Salt Lake City. We walked around and in the south visitors center they had the model of the SLC temple with one side cut out and one end cut out so that people could see what it is like inside. We watched a movie of Joseph Smith’s life in the big theater in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The cinematography was amazing and all was well done. Inasmuch as he died a martyr, it was sad at the end so tissues were needed by most. We ate dinner at the Lion House.
There was a free concert in the Assembly Hall at 7:30 PM with an orchestra from Oakland, CA with a famous guest violinist. She was amazing. Tiffany plays the violin and the rest of us also enjoyed the music. After that we returned to our motel. We said good-bye to Sara, Morgan, Ethan and Gavin. Ev, Tiff and Maggie actually went to a movie after that! Tamie and I crashed in our room.
Sunday Tamie, Maggie and I left Midvale, UT for Carson. Ev and Tiff returned to Las Vegas. All made it home safely. We had a few health issues while we were there, but we all went on anyway.
Kristi is recovering well from her last surgery and had company last week.
The DH's must have moved, but I haven’t talked with them.
Grandpa and Gunter survived my absence but Grandpa did suffer a bit from the heat.
So that’s it for now. We love you all.

Slide Show for Wedding
Baby Shower for Annies friend, Shanna
Annie and I attended Shanna Myrups (forgot new last name) and got to see lots of 10th ward members. It was fun to feel at home with the people we spent the last 10 years with! From left to right is: MaryAnn Wride (now married,) Brittney Lopez, Maddie Wiscombe, Shanna (20 year old), Kim Romrell, Annalisa and Kami Escamilla. We played a baby show game that was nasty! A variety of 12 chocolate bars were melted and smashed into a baby diaper and the guests passed them around the room to guess what kind of candy bar it was only from looks and smell. It was funny but gross too!
Gavin comes to town....

Ok, his parents did too, but left for a couple days in Las Vegas. Ethan has been living with Michael and Bridgett for the summer and is watching Gavin when both parents are at work. Having some private time with Gavin was loads of fun. We took him to a place called Discovery Park that is nearby and he loved that! He was so good over the 5 days he was with us. Ethan and Morgan loved playing with him and helping out while I was at work. Thanks for coming Little Buddy! Grandma loves you.....can you believe I get to SAY THAT!
While in Idaho Ethan and Mike have been work out buddies waking up and getting to the gym by 5am. Then for 2 hours they work out and Mike gets ready for work at Wells Fargo in Pocatello, Id. You will not believe how good they look and I'm so glad they have each other for support and motivation. Mike has lost 50 pounds and Ethan now 15 - 20. Congratulations at your hard work!

Nick and Michelle - Engagement photos

Happy days! The engagement pictures are fantastic and I sure had a great time looking at the 90+ shots. I have my favorites so I will post just a couple. Michelle is making this great book of photos for the guests to sign. Wedding preparation is in full swing and it's been fun to shop for the festivities. Lots to do, but it's a happy busy! Her ring is absolutely georgeous, a full 1 carat. The wedding is on July 15th so with a little over 2 weeks left....whew!
Paddle Fishing on the Missori River, Montana

In early May the paddle fishing is good on the Missori River. Morgan, Nicholas and
Ethan met up with Dan and the four of them met Grandpa Doug near Lewiston, Montana. Finding a good spot on the river to camp and dock the jet boat was their first mission. The jet boat got bogged in a sandbar but with some determination, good ideas and a heavy throttle got them out of there. Sand does a number on jet boat motors, but can't just leave it there! The boys caught some great fish from 25-80 pounds! The one Morgan caught was 78 pounds, Ethans around 35, Nicks around 75 lb's. Way to go guys! After leaving the river the boys headed for Dodson, Montana to see their Grandmother Wanda and family living nearby. Only bummer was making up a week of school, but I'm sure it was worth it!

Speaking of school, Ethan got a 4.0 this semester and Morgan did great too. Morgan took the ACT and got a score of 25. (Little history here...Morgan missed the first scheduled test due to being in Idaho, and then the night before the second scheduled test, he remembered at 12:30am and had to be at the testing center at 8am. Nope, no preparation so he actually did pretty good. Good job Morgan and Ethan with your studies!

Mothers Day 2010
Happy Birthday Ashlee! (May 5th) A little late, so sorry, but it was great to have you come!

I decided Mothers day is like my 'un-birthday'! It's half way through the year from my birthday and I love hearing from all my kids in the same day! Yippee! I knew that David and Ashlee would be in town for a missionary homecoming, so I was extra delighted to have it fall on Mothers day and I'd get to see them. I planned on a Sunday dinner menu of Chicken Fajitas and Lemon bar's for dessert. Church was terrific and afterward we started the cooking process. Nicholas called to say hello and Happy Mothers Day and I got to hear more of the proposal story! Michael and Bridgett sent a cool picture and greeting too. David and Ashlee arrived and presented me with a beautiful hot pink orchid...and yummy chocolate. Annalisa had a day off of work and she and Morgan helped with dinner. After we ate, and ate, we went downstairs for some Rock Band, country style. David did a great job of singing, Ashlee was amazing on the guitar, and Morgan did some stylin' drums. It was a lot of fun to take pictures of that! Ethan later left for Logan to meet up with Nicholas. The 3 boys are meeting their Dad in Idaho, picking up his jet boat and the group of them will head for Montana, pick up Grandpa Doug and go Paddle fishing on the Missouri River. Sounds pretty fun for a group of guys.
Nicholas and Michelle - Engaged! WhooHooo

This is such a cool story! Nick and Michelle went on a motorcycle ride and in the mean time, David and Ashlee set the stage for the proposal. The county fair grounds is the place that Nick and Michelle first laid eyes on each other and I'd love to recap the story, as far as I know it. Nick was on a friend date with another couple when he spied a group of people who sat behind him. One really cute girl was with the group and he had a hard time paying attention to the car derby. At one point Michelle was holding a baby, and then not, so Nick decided to text into his own phone a message that said his name, and no he wasn't a weirdo, but would she like to type in her phone number into the text. Trying not to disrespect the friend he was with, during a roudy part of the derby, Nick handed Michelle his phone with the text showing and confused, she read it, laughed and typed in her phone number! They spent the next solid week together and the rest is history!
That was last September. So after the motor bike ride, Nick took (carried her piggy back and blindfolded) Michelle to the bleachers as David and Ashlee conspicuously stood by to take pictures and Nick popped the question! We love Michelle and have from the very first meeting last October. I'm excited to add another daughter to my three now...WhoooHoo! Her family is from Ogden, Utah.
Morgans new job!
I've not seen a fancier way to wash and clean a car! A customer drives through to the right and the vehicle is washed, hand dried and then routed to the vacuums as you see Morgan doing for the final stage. The car owners can wait in a lobby that looks like a fine hotel with a buffet bar. It's amazing. Morgan and 2 other neighbor boys got hooked up with the owner by a YM leader in our ward to land the job! Great going Morgan! The place is called Fire House Station in American Fork. Morgan is loving the tips!
Photo Op

Our ward in Cedar Hills has a professional photographer who cut a deal for the Young Woman for Girls Camp fund raiser. The boys and I met Kari at the Harley Davidson building, excited for the rustic look. She did a great job and these are a few shots we really liked. LOVED, loved the one with the shades!
