Morgans letter & photos 4 / 2014 Kona, Big Island, Hawaii 2-4-14

Dear Family

So yesterday on our P-Day we did service for a family, we helped them move into a new house. So we didn't have time to Email, so here I am today sending my letter home. P-Day morning we went to Mauna Kea again with our whole Zone. So it was freezing up there, and i forgot my shoes so i only had my flip flops and socks on. And i was running through the snow, sledding and having snow ball fights, wow were my feet cold! But they thawed out, and everything is alright. We made a snowman up there, and got a couple pictures with it. Then we took the Hour Long drive and headed over to the Members house to help them move out.

This week was awesome, there was a few really cool experiences where the Lord blessed us with perfect timing when we were visiting people. So we were visiting a Less Active Family, the Kaupu's. They mentioned that their Grandma/Mom had passed away the day before. They were about to have a huge family dinner, and invited us to join them. So we graciously accepted to have a 2nd dinner with them, man was i stuffed. So after dinner we were able to share a message with the whole family! Non Members, Friends, Less Actives, everyone! It was amazing, it really touched them, and the Father thanked us for the message. So that was awesome timing, we didn't even know that she had passed away, but the Lord led us there in their time of mourning to uplift and strengthen them.

The Next one we were trying to see a Potential Investigator named Justin, But another guy Derwin answered the door. He is renting out the bottom of their house. He was super heavy into Drugs and Alcohol, but recently was "Saved" as he joined a local church. And has been strong with them for about a year now. We shared with him about our purpose as missionaries, and he was super open to talk to us. We shared a little bit with him and had a prayer with him. He invited us to come back again, so we will see him this coming week.

The last one was Jason and Annie. We have been trying for the last month to have a lesson with them, but they have been super crazy busy. Finally we stopped by their house, and they were home. We talked for a few minutes on the doorway, and then they invited us inside. They were preparing to Cater some big party for the Super Bowl, they were going to make 30 pizzas in their Brick oven on Sunday. So While with them on Saturday night we cut tons of vegetables, and meat, and pizza toppings, and got everything prepared. It was perfect timing for us to fellowship them, and do service, and be able to share a message with them at the end. We actually didn't have a dinner that night, but instead of going home for dinner, we decided to skip dinner and work the whole night. Jason and Annie after we helped them fed us a pizza, so it worked out perfectly. The Lord provided us something as small as a dinner.  It reminded me of this scripture i recently read:

25 And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked upon the atwelve whom he had chosen, and said unto them: Remember the words which I have spoken. For behold, ye are they whom I have chosen to bminister unto this people. Therefore I say unto you, ctake no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than draiment?
26 Behold the afowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the alilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin;
29 And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon, in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, even so will he clothe you, if ye are not of little faith.
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But aseek ye first the bkingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. aSufficient is the day unto the evil thereof.
So we did tons and tons of Service this week. More than the usual, which we gladly did. So first one was for a Widow, Sister Gusman, i trimmed a hedge with a Gas Powered Trimmer, (first time ever trimming a hedge, but i caught on quick), we got Machetes and My Pocket Knife and we cut back this huge plant, with giant leaves on it, because it was so overgrown. Then we drained her pond, and cleaned it out a little bit. It was awesome. Then we helped the Bailey's move. So they moved to Waikoloa, which is like 45 minutes away. So we did a bunch of loads to the Storage Unit, and a bunch of loads to their house. The Baileys 2 sons came from Laie, from BYU-Hawaii to help them move, so it was good to see them. The Baileys are awesome, i have gotten super close to this family. They have fed us dinner too many times to count, whenever someone cancels, or we don't have a dinner we just go visit them. We had 2 exchanges this week, for 1 of them i was with Elder Morco from California, the 2nd i was with Elder Goodman from California! Well I love you all, thanks for all your support! Have an awesome week!
Love Elder Morgan Durocher

So athe Baileys gave us a Bow and Arrow for the Day, so we target practiced outside our house for a little while. The bow musta been like 60 lbs or more, maybe 70, a lot of the other guys couldnt pull it back. We lost the arrow haha

Our P-Day activity, we went up to the top of Mauna Kea, this picture is Me and Sister Lebaron! You can see my flip flops and socks. Plus on the other side the Hill we were sledding down. This is 13,000 feet above sea level, so we are way up there.

Well this week was pretty good, and thank you all for the birthday wishes and emails!! I love you all so much!!
On Thursday we had re-enforcements in out area of Santa Rosa. We have probably the biggest area in our mission and only have 4 missionaries in it. We had about 30 missionaries working in our area for about 4 hours and wow what miracles that were found! We as a Zone found so many new Investigators and contacts that we aren't going to be able to contact and teach all of them in the time that we have. We only have 3 weeks left in this transfer, I can’t believe how fast time is going and where is going. I hope that we can get all that we can written down in the Area Book.
I was reading in Chapter 13 of  Preach My Gospel and reading about how to work with members and came upon the scripture 2 Nephi 31:19-20  Wow i love how this is phrased in Preach My Gospel and so I marked that way and took a photo and is with this email. I am so glad for the opportunities that i have to learn and to grow closer to my savior Jesus Christ. I know this church is true with every fiber of my being!

I don't have much time today due to the computer being so slow... I love you all!!!
