Ethan's 40th Letter - Necochea, Argentina October 13, 2014

Well to start off my letter it will be about the Rain that we got! Wow that was a lot of Rain! It started raining early in the week and it just didn't stop, there were moments when it was light rain and other that it was a heavy down pour!!! haha  We went to work and got totally soaked!!!! haha we just kept on going and trying to talk and share the gospel with all the people we can. My companion actually has and waterproof jacket but mine.... not so much waterproof... i called it a Rain Catcher..... haha We were in the Center part of the city and looking at our plans and a guy came out of his Store which was meat shop where he sells meat like in the old times when we didn't have Walmart and Costco! haha He came out and we started talking and he invited us in to get out of the rain and we started to talk. He had a old school Book of Mormon and had read it all, he thought it was super interesting and thought it was cool that there were Apostles of Christ here. It was super cool to find him, later we just continued in the rain and just got more wet to the core!! haha

We got to the house and we never had problems with the house..... but we opened up the door and it had rained so much the sewer got filled and came up through the bathroom drain and water went everywhere!!! but not only water.... also POOP!!!!!..... its smelt so bad in our house and we were all wet and we couldn't do much so we just cleaned up all that we could and got dryish and the 10(the assistants came for a visit) of us Elders tried to go to bed.... hahaha Great experiences!!

OSCAR BENITO GALLARDO is his name, he is a member here who is less active and his family asked us to pray for him, so i thought that you guys can too, also if you can put his name in the temple that would be awesome!

    Finally!!!!!!!!!

    WE BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His name is Alexi Casco, he is 9 years old and hes awesome! his two other siblings who are 11 and 13 years old were already baptized, they just showed up to church and started going! haha now we have to work with the parents and get the closer and going to church haha.

Also we were walking in the road and we passed to people and we keep walking.... we flip around and we those two people happen to be right behind us. we stop them and talk to the and just so happened that they have gone to the church before and stopped about 6 years back, but never were baptized so we invited them to be baptized within 2 minutes of talking to them and they both said yes!!!! Roberto who is 20 and Gisella who is 19 and there family!!! its awesome, we will be working with them so that they can be baptized!!!

I know that the Savior lives and that he truly knows everyone of us. He knows us better then we know ourselves and he knows that we can handle the challenges that are put in our way! Its called Tough Love but its a perfect love!

AF Canyon Outing with Nick & Family and Camrie & Morgan October 11, 2014

Hello Elder & Family,
Nothing like mild temperatures to make the world a better place.  I love the fall colors and mild weather, but looming is the cold temps of winter.... But with winter brings the beautiful white wonderland and then the warming of Spring.  I'm very grateful to live in an area with the 4 seasons and the nearby access to the mountains and lakes that bring such diversity and color.

During the week Nick suggested a 4-wheeler outing to American Fork Canyon and he'd bring his Rhino over from Tooele.  I loved the idea so Morgan asked Camrie and her sister, Sierra to join us.  Nick arrived at 10am and we got Morgans wheeler loaded to the front tongue of the red trailer that had the Rhino on it and then a red wheeler was in his truck bed that was Dan's.  My 4-wheeler was on my trailer pulled by David's Jeep that Morgans been driving.  We arrived to Tibble Fork Reservoir and headed up the trail.  Nick lead the way and Oh boy, he headed up the difficult trail to Forrest Lake!  He took me on it one other time and I had to get rescued a couple times.  Well, I had hoped to manage this trip without assistance over the huge rocks, and got past the first segment well, but later got tilted in a deep rut and Nick and Michelle had to keep me from tipping too much.  Whew!  It's a lot of fun but tiring!  I thought my muscles would be more sore today, but their not! We got up to Forrest Lake and enjoyed the beautiful colors and gentle breeze.  I was surprised how many full size vehicles try making (and succeeding) at this trail with their expensive rigs.  I took photos of one Rubicon heading down the bolder strewn trail.  Crazy!  I had packed a lunch for all so it was nice to have a rest.  Morgan and Camrie were catching peanuts with their mouths and that was fun to watch.  The dynamics of heading down the trail was much easier so we arrived at the bolder patch to see another full size newer Jeep trying to get up the huge rock field.  He either broke or just took off his fender flairs to clear the rocks.  Again....crazy.  We had to hustle down as Sierra had to get back in time for work at 4pm in Provo.  After we got things cleaned up a bit the rest of us went to dinner at Chubby's in PG.  It's a great place for burger/fries and we did just that.  Camrie and I got the Chicken Hawaiian that was super good.  Nick got the Chubby's Challenge, but didn't care to eat it in 15 minutes to win.   Nick had to head off for home as Michelle had to work the night shift.  Such a great time together.  Morgan and Camrie headed off to see the movie, Meet the Mormons.  I came home and did laundry and finished preparations for my lesson on Isaiah.

I got to see Avery on Saturday morning too!  He dropped by to give me back the house key and I was so glad to see him!  He was on his way up the canyon as well to do some trail riding too.

Yep, the lesson I'd been really looking forward to teaching as I've prepared for the last month.  I really came to appreciate the literary style of Isaiah and the ways to overcome the barriers to his difficult context.  I likened the style of Shakespeare or Talmages, Jesus the Christ as difficult text.  All of these have a style or rhythm that after you get used to the imagery or metaphors, you begin to understand the language and use of words.  I stressed the point that with the power of prayer, and the gift of interpretation, we can all be blessed to understand the message.   After all I'd studied, I hoped the class would be motivated to not shy away from such great scripture.  The best part is that when Jesus visited the Lamanites he commanded us all to learn the words of Isaiah.  3Ne. 23

Well I'm guessing this is long enough and I need to post a few pictures!  Have a great week and know that I love you so much!
Love, Mom

Buenos Días!!  Quiero decirles que Les Amo muchísimo!!! Gracias por todo que hace para mi.

Alright enough with the Castellano, I am so grateful for the chance that i had to watch General Conference! It answered a question that i had been striving to know, and I am so grateful to know now. I am really short on time today to write but i want you to know that i love you guys so very much.

I know that The people who talked in conference are called of God and the messages that they shared we exactly meant for every one of us. They talked a lot of Revelation and I am so grateful for all the Revelation i have received from God. I know That Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of God. I know that the Apostles are also called of God. I truly know that this is the church of Jesus Christ, That he is the head of this church.

I'm sorry for the such a short email, but Know that I love you all so much!!

Ethan's 38th Letter Necochea, Argentina Sept. 29, 2014

Dear Family,
The week started of with a bang as me and my companion are doing a Purification Challenge. Basically we have seen more Miracles this week then i have seen ever. We found many many people who have a desire to know the truth, the accepted the invitation to be baptized. We found people who know everything is true and can be baptized tomorrow, but just weren't ever baptized. We found a lot of "Stock" as we say here.  We had a women named Natalia who was going be be baptized Sunday after the District Conference, also here Daughter was going to be baptized. Everything in the week was going great!.....Until we got a call that we had to move houses..... We had to move back into my old house in Guemes and we are living in a house with 8 Elders, when you can almost live comfortable with 4. We are living out of our suitcases and trying to make things work as we study on our mattresses and what not. They say it will only be like this for 2 weeks and then we can go back to our old house..
I don't have much time this week, but i have grown more than i can explain! I am happy to say that,

I am a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a Representative of Jesus Christ, sharing his Gospel with all the people that i can. I am experiencing everything as Missionary of the Lord Jesus Christ, and it makes me Happy, it makes me happy to know that I have the chance to know a little bit of what Christ went through for at least a for short time. I am so grateful for my Savior and I KNOW THAT HE LIVES!!
I love you all so much!!!
Con Amor,
Elder Ethan C. Durocher!
