Dear Family,
So on Saturday we did a District Flood in our Area. So the 6
missionaries in our District came to Kealekekua and tracted in our area. I was
with Elder Morco, a Philipino Elder from California. We originally planned on
tracting out the neighborhood and all the houses, but we both felt like we
should tract out a couple apartment complex's instead. So we tract out this big
huge building. We found a 93 year old Jehovah Witness man, who was super
interested in the Book of Mormon, had lots of questions, but when i offered him
the book he couldn't accept it, because its against his Religion to read other
Church's material. So that was a bummer. Then we met this nice lady, who has
lots of members in her family. But wasn't super open at first, but we offered to
say a prayer for her because she had lots of stress from a party she was
planning that night. So we offered the prayer and asked for the Lords blessings
to be with her. She opened up, and thanked us dearly for the prayer, and said
we were welcome to come back next week. Yay!!!
Our tracting experience keeps getting better though!! So we
went to the next apartment building, and talked to a man by the front entrance
in the parking lot, who was building a grill. He said he lived there, and that
we were not allowed to Solicit in this building. So nicely i asked if Sharing
the Teachings of Jesus Christ was soliciting? He said were on private property,
and we had to go. So we walked away, and Me and Elder Morco decided the people
in this building needed the Gospel!! So we snuck around the back side of the
building, to find a back entrance. Where we run into a Lady who is washing her
car, we talk to her, and then she tells us the same thing, That were not
allowed to Solicit in this building and to go away. So Me and Elder Morco
decided to give up and move onto the next building. This is where the Miracle
happened!
The next house we knock on, a little 7 year old boy comes to
the window. We wave at him, and he waves back. Then he leaves the window, and a
little 3 yr old girl comes to the window now. After a few moments, the little
boy comes back and opens the door. He says " My mom is sleeping." We
get that a lot, so i told him thats okay. I told him that "We Are
missionaries for Jesus Christ." It came out of my mouth funny, usually i
would say our whole church name, We are missionaries for the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints. But maybe i didnt want to say a huge long name to
this young boy, i dono but thats how it came out. So we tell him that we will
try to come back another time when his mom is awake. Just then we see the mom
coming from the very back of the house, in a half jog, half speed walk! Im
thinking, oh no we woke her up, she is going to yell at us now! She comes to
the Door and the First thing she says is " I have been praying for you
guys to come." Her name is Laura, and she told us how she was baptized 5-6
years ago into the Mormon Church in Mexico, then moved here 4 years ago. She
couldnt speak English, so she didnt want to go to church. Then she slowly faded
away. She told us that Jehovah Witness's always come and Bug her, and she
doesnt like them. She has a 3 week old baby that kept her up all night long.
She was really sleepy and laying on her bed, when her son came in and said
Church people were here. She thought we were Jehovah Witness, so told her son
to say she was sleeping. She heard us talking to her son, and knew we were missionaries
from the Mormon Church. So came running to the door! She told us how she had
been praying for a long time that missionaries would knock on her door, and
finally her prayer was answered by us that day. We shared a scripture message
with her, and encouraged her to be strong, and rely on the Lord. And we prayed
with her, to bless her family. She invited us to come back in a few days. The
Spirit bore Witness so powerfully to my heart the importance of missionary
work, as she told us she was praying that we would come. It was an amazing
experience that strengthened my testimony of Prayer! I know that the Church is
true, and its so amazing how the spirit led us to her. And its amazing how
Heavenly Father made everything line up perfectly so that we could find Laura.
Like if we had decided to tract the houses, we wouldnt have met her. Or if we
hadnt gotten kicked out of the 2nd apartment building by the 2 difference
people, we wouldnt have had time to tract into Laura and knock on her door. I
have really seen the last couple weeks how Amazing the timing of the Lord is,
and how everything works perfectly together. I know our Heavenly Father is
aware of all of his children, and sometimes uses us to answer the prayers of
others.
So the very next house we knocked on, We introduced
ourselves, and then she told us she was a Less-Active Member, We ran into two
Less-Active Members in a Row!! She was a 18 year old Local Girl. She was happy
so see us and talk to us for a little while. She said "you guys are really
happy, usually the missionaries i run into are too serious and boring."
Found out she lived right down the road from me, when i was in my first area in
Waianae, she had just recently moved here. So we shared a scripture message
Mosiah 4:9,12 with her, and then prayed with her. She invited us back to share
a message with her whole family next week! So these were all the miracles
that we found in this 1 and a half hour tracting session!! So many miracles!
The Sister missionaries found a lot of people during the District Flood.
They found a non member family for us to teach!! Amazing! and Elder Painter and
Goodman found a few people too. Miracles!
So we got our Transfer Calls from President Warner. I am
staying in my area in Kealekekua! President Warner asked me to train
another missionary. I dont remember his name, but he grew up in Tonga, and
spent a couple years of High School in California. So he is a legit Tongan from
the Islands. I pick him up from the Airport Wednesday Afternoon. So now i have
a Samoan Son, and a Tongan Son too!! Its crazy how many Polynesian companions i
have had on my mission. This is my 4th! I have had 3 Samoans and now 1 Tongan!
So our District is amazing!! Last week we set the goal for
our District to get 75 total lessons in 1 week. So that means 25 lessons in 1
week from each companionship! GUESS WHAT!!?? Our total lessons this week was 80
as a District!! Me and Elder Painter got 27 lessons, and the other 4
missionaries got the rest of them! Think about that: All the Spiritual Thoughts
our District was able to share, all the people we help to lift up, and all the
peoples faith that we strengthened, the Spirit that each 1 of those people
could feel as they heard the truthfulness of the Gospel, all those seeds that
we planted, all of the Truth of the Fulness of the Gospel that has been taught,
all of the Testimonies of Jesus Christ that got shared in each of those
Lessons. This work is Truly Amazing! I am so grateful to be a missionary! I
love this Gospel! I know our Savior Lives!
