ALOHA,
So this week was great! Not as exciting as last week but it
was still a good week. On Saturday we went on Exchanges, and i went with Elder
Tenney, and My Companion went with Elder Law. Me and Elder Tenney stayed in my
Area. We so at 8AM when we were about to start our Personal Study, A member
from our ward who was feeding us dinner that night gave us a call. She said to
come right now and pick up some money, so we could just go out to dinner
tonight. We pulled up on the street in front of her house, she was waiting in
the Garage. She ran over to us, i tried to get out of the car to shake her hand
and talk to her, and then thank her. But she came to my window, handed me an
envelope with $20 in it, and said" Hurry you have to go, my Husband is
coming home!" So then we thanked her, she ran back to her house, and then
we kept driving. It felt like a drug deal or something, cuz it was super quick
and secretive like haha!
So she is a member of the Church, but her husband is a
Non-Member. Her husband doesnt like the church, he is kinda anti. So she has to
secretly pays her tithing, and secretly feeds sometimes. She will get tithing
slips from her neighbor, and then secretly pays her tithing, gives it to her
neighbor to give to the Bishop. If her husband finds out she pays tithing, she
would get in big trouble, and in a fight. So i guess it was the same thing for
our dinner, she wanted to feed us, but didnt want her husband to know.
Me and Elder Tenney had tons of fun that day. He is from
Lehi, and graduated the same year as me. He is gonna go home in less then 2
months. We found out we knew a couple of the same people. Me and Elder Tenney
tracted a neighborhood for about an hour.
First house we knocked on was " No thanks i dont want a
prayer, I am Catholic."
Next house first thing she said was "Im Jewish, and im
mourning because my Husband just died, so please leave me alone." I said
"thats Wonderful we both Believe in Jesus Christ." Then i was about
to bear Testimony on the Plan of Salvation, because i knew it would comfort
her, and i know that her husband is still alive waiting for her. But she
Interrupted me before i could say anything, and She Slammed the Door on us.
Dang its hard because i know our message would comfort and help her so much,
but she slammed the door on us, I think we will try back in a couple weeks.
Next house just waved through the window for us to go away.
Next 5 houses no one would come to the door, even though we
knew someone was home, or we could hear them inside. Then we found a Miracle.
We knocked on a door an a guy named Daniel answered the Door. He looked about
our age. We said that we are Representatives of Jesus Christ, and that we
wanted to just say a simple prayer for him, to bless him and his family. He
said yeah sure. He asked us to pray for his Marching Band performance, later
that day. And also pray for his family. So i said the Prayer, and blessed all
of those things, and more, and that his family could have love, and health, and
everything. Then after the Prayer, Elder Tenney asked "So Daniel do you
feel different now than before?" Daniel said that he did, and he just felt
really good now, and that God has a hand over everything. So we both bore
Testimony of Prayer, and how the Gospel can bless us and our families. And he invited
us to come back next week Monday. So thats appointment is Today at 6pm, so Pray
that it goes well.
The rest of the Houses, were the same as before, no one
answered, or they just blew us off. But that didnt matter, I love tracting, and
meeting people. I love being nice to everyone, and sharing what i believe with
them. Everyone else turned us down, but we found 1 person that wanted us to
come back, so it was so worth it! It started raining like crazy, it came out of
no where!! We started running back to our car to escape the rain, but by the
time we got in the car, every square inch of us was already soaked with water!
It was crazy!
The rest of the week was pretty normal. We had a few more
lessons with Madreen, Rocky, and Atrik. She made a huge Oreo Cake, and we
brought Cookies and Cream Icecream. And we watched Joseph Smith; The Prophet of
the Restoration. Its a movie the church made, about Joseph Smith and his life,
and the early church. Its a super good movie. I bought Madreen a big picture of
the Laie Temple, when we went to the Temple last week. We wrote the First
Saturday, 1 year from Today, which is Saturday, November 8, 2014, on the front
of the picture in the Sky. And then we all signed the Picture, and set that as
a goal for her family to be Sealed for Time and All Eternity on that day. I
told her i would fly back to Hawaii, and come through the temple with her. I
will send you all a picture of it when i get a chance. i dont have my camara
right now.
